The Man Who You Love I lit my last cigarette the smoke was choking on the sunlight I watched you move poetic I saw the terror in their eyes When morning came much later I found myself, alone in an empty bed I said my prayers then to the same God that cursed your name put the chains on my wrist I am ready Put the kiss on the cheek of the man who you love Pull the veil and the bars on my body put the kiss on the cheek of the man who you love they gave us costumes they wrote us into a talking picture show I was your gun moll you were my one true love in the action scene car chase we ran but they got closer on our trail I had them fooled to think that a wild boy broke the will of a good young woman put the chains on my wrist I am ready Put the kiss on the cheek of the man who you love Pull the veil and the bars on my body put the kiss on the cheek of the man who you love Drive me off a cliff, I will dip I will dive I will slide to the bottom of the ocean Drive me off of a cliff, I have made up my mind, I am yours and I’m already drowning put the chains on my wrist I am ready Put the kiss on the cheek of the man who you love Pull the veil and the bars on my body put the kiss on the cheek of the man who you love And in slow motion I reached across the seat to seal a kiss on your right shoulder when the bullets broke my heart right through the windshield

Baby Springtime by Danielle Ate the Sandwich ft. Skye Zentz
VERSE 1 I’ve been losing letting go I’ve been tossed out I’ve been turning I’ve been hard around edges so long everybody knows my shape I’ve been stopped before I started I went crazy when I lost ya in the deepest part of the ocean there is a seed let her belong to me let her belong to me CHORUS In the springtime I shed my layers In the springtime I show my colors In the springtime i feed my hunger Get up, get up! Everybody you’re a flower now VERSE 2 I’ve been hiding, losing hope I’ve been stuck and I’ve been sinking I’ve been in the dark so long I forget how the sun feels on my face I’ve been wrong for feeling right I’ve been giving up on the good fight in the deepest part of the ocean there is a seed, let her remember me let her remember me CHORUS In the springtime I shed my layers in the springtime I show my colors in the springtime i feed my hunger Get up, get up, everybody you’re a flower now In the springtime I shed my layers in the springtime I show my colors in the springtime i feed my hunger Get up, get up, everybody you’re a flower now RAP FLOW Our essence is intangible, florally audible Already in bloom to the tune of a dream or an oracle Notes on a page iridescent and questioning everything This life is perfect it’s a sparkly blessing BRIDGE
I am just blooming don’t know what I’m doing but every morning I’m up with the sun I am amazing don’t care what they’re saying ‘cause inside the center I burn like a fire I am so golden it’s like I’m unfolding with all of my petals to show you the light I am just blooming don’t know what I’m doing but every morning I’m letting my sun shine CHORUS In the springtime I shed my layers in the springtime I show my colors in the springtime i feed my hunger Get up, get up, everybody you’re a flower now In the springtime I shed my layers in the springtime I show my colors in the springtime i feed my hunger Get up, get up, everybody you’re a flower now

Alive 03:14
Alive by Danielle Ate the Sandwich We wait a while without getting anywhere We were all counting all the moments that we stood there we were afraid, but what we didn’t know of what until we felt on our face, the warmth of the sun we are alive / we are the chosen ones we are alive / we are the chosen ones You wait a while, without getting anything but you are standing on the edge of a good thing you are afraid, take a deep breath of air there will be darkness, but you make the light that you want to see there we are alive / we are the chosen ones we are alive / we are the chosen ones we are alive / we are the chosen ones we are alive / we are the chosen ones We wait for change, but we don’t have the time we need our freedom but so does the other side You might forget, the one sitting next to you is just a single, beating heart and so are you we are alive / we are the chosen ones we are alive / we are the chosen ones we are alive / we are the chosen ones we are alive / we are the chosen ones

Lion in My Cage // by Danielle Ate the Sandwich My crying eyes, my crying eyes won’t keep me no more My tumbling lies, my caught up goodbyes won’t keep me no more If you need me, I’ll be falling, falling falling I try to set it straight but there’s a lion in my cage and it won’t get out My sick and disturbing proverbial wording won’t keep me no more My set of excuses, my reasons for moving won’t keep me no more If you need me, I’ll be falling, falling falling I try to set it straight but there’s a lion in my cage and it won’t get out I gotta be moving on, I gotta be moving So I gather all my pieces, I gather all my pieces and go If you need me, I’ll be falling, falling falling I try to set it straight but there’s a lion in my cage and it won’t get out

Masks 03:59
Masks by Danielle Ate the Sandwich dry the petals in the pages catch the kettle ‘fore it howls let the chips fall where they’re gonna you are not this hour drop the tea bag in the water watch the sugar disappear rest the spoon upon the doily you are not this year load the dishes in the washer keep a prayer upon your lips wipe the counters and the floorboards you are not this mess we all have masks that we wore masks that we swore we were masks that we wore let the cupboards all be barren let the hallway lightbulbs burst let the carpets pull from corners you are not this curse Trace the path ways you have wondered and be grateful they were there let the marked walls be reminders you are different here wipe the dust from where it settled steal a deep breath from the air and one last look at the wreckage you are not these tears we all have masks that we wore masks that we swore we were masks that we wore we all have masks that we wore masks that we swore but we’re not masks anymore in the morning when the sun finds the one sliver in the blind and lets a warm light on your pillow you will be alright you will be alright you will be alright

about

Dance Club Thursday 2016 is Danielle Ate the Sandwich's third DCT album, with songs added on Thursdays, whenever she has time or feels called to make them. The whole project serves as a way to keep her writing and singing and to stretch her writing and production skills in a different style. The hope is to explore, create, make and push the limits to figure out new ways to use her voice, her fingers and her story telling. Life's too short not to write every single song. Long live Dance Club Thursday!
